The Green, Green Glow of Home

As the festive season fast approaches, why not consider how you can inject a green dosage into this busy time? Recycled cards are now available at most retailers and for those who fear missing the last post or haven’t had the time to shop, why not send the 100% environmentally friendly e-card. You can choose from a photo card, an animated one or even make one yourself from scratch or even send a video message.

If you’re out looking for gifts, why not shop local and avoid the congestion in central London (traffic congestion, congestion charge and even the rush of shoppers who may make getting to that item that you want difficult even though you could probably pick it up locally). Want to see the lights? Why not take the train and see as many lights as you can using a travel card/Oyster card and that way you can see how brightly lit Harrow, Hillingdon, Brent, Ealing or any of the other neighbouring boroughs are, and for a great price.

This December, think how you can green your journey and tell us about it!

I always send e-cards now. They can be sent on Xmas Eve, save on postage and can personalise them more easily.

I hate and I mean bah humbug hate going into Oxford St around this time. Pushed and shoved in the season of love? I'll stick to Harrow and the Chimes thanks, everything they have we have and it takes less time to go there and come back.

Isn;'t it supposed to be grass?

The glow must be kryptonite

I think the glow is a warm glow that you can get started from your heart

Janelle! That is so sweet!!!!

I shop local because it's cheaper and I get everything I want. Anything I get from anywhere else has to take into account the travel cost and hassle of carrying it back.

You can even buy green music now = Corey's or even send someone an amazon mp3 now, they're at 3 quid an album! No one needs CDs anymore anyway! Save the planet!

My Xmas wish list consisted of almost entirely green gifts. I also recently picked up an excellent book on ethics, morality and the greener way to shop from Amnesty International. Recommended.

I send e-cards too, much easier plus they all get recycled anyway.

Getting up to go into city every day for work is bad enough, i'll stick to Pinner High St for my local shopping thanks. Best to all and merry Christmas!

I LOVE sending e-cards! I personalize them with a photo and sometimes admit to sending the same copy to everyone!

I have no idea what that means, Venkman.

Harrow's coffee shops (the smaller ones, not franchises) have EXCELLENT Xmas food, check them out!

Shop recycled, buy local, eat local, support your local business district and use public transport to get around locally. You can't go wrong and you're helping the planet. Spread the good cheer to the earth this Xmas!

Green Harrow is gold!

I always take the train when going to the city, car trips there are just not worth it. I also went to woolworths today as they have a massive sale on!

I shop local, that's my contribution.

I shop online so I avoid any sort of additional travel associated with xmas shopping whatsoever!

Ellie Loris, this is completely unrelated to what you said but I LOVE YOUR NAME!

Thanks!

I shop online too, that way you don't pay for parking, for a bus fare and most palces are offering free delivery nowadays too.

I've worn green while doing my shopping, and I've bought a green tree that was from a sustainable source and I recycle all my bags by reusing them until they rip, then I stick them in Tescos recycling bin. Not bad eh?

not bad at all, well done!

I used public transport to get to St Georges today and it's so easy I'll probably do it more. I used to drive in but the cost of parking plus the wait for a space was irking me so for the 1st time I got a prepaid Oyster card and tried it and it's very convenient.

I am so a Christmas bunny! I make sure we have turkey with all the stuffing and pudding, a big green tree for our home and for us, holidays are all about giving back so we recycle everything afterwards, and even pick up stock in recycled bags. Mom always taught us to give back when you can and I hope I can pass that on too. This is a really cool website and I hope you continue to keep everyone positive. Best to everyone. TH
