Cycling in Harrow

In the last year there have been major improvements across Harrow to make cycling in the borough a more pleasurable experience.

With investment in Harrow Town Centre there is now more cycle parking than ever before, two way cycle access into the area together with Toucan crossings and off road cycle tracks being implemented in the coming months. There are also ongoing improvements being made to the Belmont Trail to highlight this beautiful area and to make it more cycle-friendly including the creation of a shared cycle-track. This Summer there’ll be a series of Dr Bikes in the borough, available to help bring your bike back to life and you back on the saddle. If you’d like to learn more about how to get the most out of your bike, why not take a look at our bike tips tutorials at www.youtube.com/itsuptoallofus where you can learn about everything from picking and fitting a helmet to repairing a puncture and giving your bike a check over.

There is free cycle training available to anyone living, working or studying in Harrow and bikeability maps for every high school in the borough with a travel plan so new cyclists can get to know and plan their journeys more efficiently.

Bike Week Day 3

Can you spot our Roaming Bike Buddy? Yes he's back, will be on the streets of Harrow (a clue is he'll be around the town centre) and will be encouraging you to get on your bike and take short journeys with him. Don't have a bike? Don't worry, he has a spare and is aiming to get 100 people on short bike rides with him.

Cyclepedia

If you're interested in cycle design through the ages, video clips, contemporary advertising and all things that appreciate the bike, try the Cyclepedia app available for iPhone and iPad. Dubbed a 'digital coffee table book', the app comes with praise from Stephen Fry. One for bike enthusiasts!

"These aren't the droids you're looking for..."

Where cycle helmets are concerned, we've seen many which are wacky and wonderful. This one is apparently topping many Christmas lists.

May the Force Be With You. On your bike, speeder or spaceship.
