It seeks to strengthen the discerning environmental and ethical community here in cyberspace and create a dialogue in the hope that awareness will lead to action.
More closer to home though, this blog is for citizens in Harrow, West London, UK - in order to create a forum for folks that want to contribute to sustainable living and travel. We want to connect with each other, through networking and sharing ideas and practices, co-ordinate and motivate efforts to change our own community's green travel and environmental practices, thus setting an example and benchmark with which to move on to greater things.
It all starts with the individual.
It's up to all of us to change our own habits first, and then collectively we can positively change others.
So get in touch - we want to hear from you, your ideas, your thoughts, your quibbles and also even your criticisms! If you have any interest - no matter how small or how big - if creating a more environmentally responsible way of life in this town is something you want to add to - THIS IS YOUR FORUM, HOME, CLINIC and VIRTUAL COMMUNITY CENTRE!
Harrow wants to hear your voice so write, blog, vlog away - and tell us about the ways you are leading an environmentally sustainable way of life and travelling in greener ways....

On Monday 31st of March 2008 Harrow Agenda 21 held a film night showing 'The Power of Community - How Cuba Survived Peak Oil'.
The film documents an inspiring example of the community taking action to solve a problem which will some day arrive for all of us. This being when oil production reaches a peak and supply starts to reduce. The film explained how Peak oil came about for Cuba with the decline of the Soviet Union coupled with an embargo on the country by the US.
The audience saw the accounts of ordinary Cubans and how they dealt the ensuing crisis by learning quickly that each citizen would have to be as resourceful as possible. They became a nation of cyclists, and farmers, growing organic food in every spare space inch of land or container, used renewable power sources, shared tvs and entertained themselves as a community.
Having watched this very interesting documentation of the survival of Cuba through peak oil we were all feeling very excited. After the film the audience chatted about community in Harrow, climate change and how people can get involved locally to creat a sustainable community.
Harrow Agenda 21 borrowed the film from Sustainable Haringey (the Local Agenda 21 group in Haringey). People across London are getting involved in the Local Agenda 21 group in their borough. People nationally and internationally are involved in Local Agenda 21 and waking up and taking action on climate change and creating a sustainable world. Join us at our next film night - for details visit www.harrowagenda21.org
