The past few months has seen a lot of snow and disruption to transport, but those who got out their snow boots and got walking have shown that as long as you can wrap up and get walking, you can still get to where you need to.
February is predicted to be cold which is the perfect opportunity to warm yourself up with some walking. You don't need to get out if you don't feel like it, just take the stairs at work instead of the lifts or walk around your home to get your heart rate up and ignite your natural central heating.
If you need to get out and about and can't face de-icing the car, stand the possibility of being stuck in traffic due to bad weather or just want a more stress-free journey, why not try the bus? Take a book, your music on your personal mp3 player or just take the time to plan for your day ahead. Whatever you do, stay sustainable!

I tried walking in the snow but my trousers were wet for days. I now strongly recommend snow boots, but yes, loved it. It's not often you get to walk in the snow and it's really fun! Can't imagine driving would be!
I'm a passive driver. I love driving because it's MY car! Seriously, it's not a great car but the personal space, freedom and control is brilliant, I think it's the best way to get anywhere and be relaxed because if I get too stressed I can shout in my car and no one can hear me. BUT I HATE DRIVING IN THE SNOW. When we had the huge snowfall in Harrow recently, I tried driving and have never felt so crippled and out of control. I decided to use public transport and thought trains were ok (didn't use them much) and buses varied from being terrible and full of obnoxious children to being exactly what you mentioned. It's a good escape as long as you plan it. I knew my journey by bus was approx 45 mins so I took music accordingly and it was great. I couldn't read because of the aforementioned children but listening to music is brilliant. Public transport is a viable alternative but if that gets stopped by the snow forget it! Plus the one thing I hate is the delays on weekends cos of ongoing engineering works.
Love love love walking in the snow. Haven't done it for years and it's a true pleasure. Takes me back to my uni days and is amazing, especially when it's not too cold.
Nick, in your car space no one can hear you scream! LOL!
Are there any weather stations in Harrow?
Gotta say, the buses running were a big bonus. Didn't expect them to in the bad weather.
February's just begun, please don't say it's gonna be freezing!
Take in from a Finn, all you need is to be prepared. Pack dry trouser and socks with you or just invest in proper winter shoes and dress up so you don't get cold. Walk as much as you can and enjoy this rare weather as Feb is going to be cold too.
Oh and if you insist or driving, why not inverst in winter tyres. You can order them online from NOKIA or Hakkapeliitta etc and they're perfectly usable even after the snow melts.
Hanks Helina, good suggestions! It's worth walking in the snow but todays sleet was just freezing!!
you were right, this feb has been freezing so far, enough of the sleet now!
